Supporter accounts have started a social-media campaign targeting United's sponsors and partners. What it asks people to do, who it targets and the background to the protests.
A group of Manchester United supporter accounts has launched an online campaign directed at the club's sponsors and partners, under the hashtag #BoycottUnited.
What the campaign asks fans to do
Leave negative reviews for the companies involved.
Email their press offices.
Comment on the companies' social-media posts.
It was announced on Tuesday 22 September with a graphic listing United's commercial partners. The message reads, in part, that fans have a voice and should make their feelings known to these companies.
Who has been targeted
The Manchester Evening News reports that Snapdragon, the brand of Qualcomm Technologies, has been particularly targeted. Qualcomm has sponsored the front of United's shirts since 2024/25 and is the club's biggest commercial partner, in a deal understood to be worth around £60m a year. The MEN says Snapdragon has hidden some critical replies under its posts.
The background
Organisers say they turned to online action because some supporters feel that protests at matches do not work. United fans have protested against the Glazer family since their 2005 takeover, and, according to the MEN, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has become a target of demonstrations over the last 18 months. Fan group The 1958 last organised a protest over the treatment of season-ticket holders following a ticket-touting investigation, before the Manchester derby.
