Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Manchester World ("we", "us", "the app") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app or our website at manchestworld.com you agree to the practices described here. Where this policy says "the app" it also covers the website.

ABOUT MANCHESTER WORLD

Manchester World is an independent fan app for supporters of Manchester United. It is not owned by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Manchester United Football Club or any of its affiliates.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We only collect what we need to run the app.

• Account details: your name, email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored in hashed form and can never be read by us.
• Google sign-in: if you choose "Continue with Google", we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We never see your Google password.
• Community content: posts, comments, likes, poll votes you submit while signed in.
• Device information: a push notification token, your device platform (iOS or Android) and basic technical information such as app version and operating system.
• Advertising data: our advertising partner may use your device advertising identifier to show ads (see "Advertising" below).
• Server logs: like most services, our servers automatically record technical information such as IP address, request time and app version, used for security and troubleshooting.

You can browse the app as a guest without giving us any personal details. Signing in is only required to post in the community.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To show your posts and comments in the community.
• To send match alerts, breaking news and other notifications you have allowed.
• To show advertising that helps keep the app free.
• To keep the app safe, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
• To troubleshoot problems and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information.

PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

If you allow notifications, we store a token that identifies your device so we can send alerts. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and removing the app stops them.

ADVERTISING

The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising identifier and similar technologies to show and measure ads. You can reset your advertising ID or limit ad personalisation in your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Android: Settings > Google > Ads).

COOKIES ON OUR WEBSITE

Our website uses only two small cookies, and both are essential for it to work. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on the website.

• laravel-session: keeps you signed in and remembers messages between pages. It is set when you visit and expires after 2 hours.
• XSRF-TOKEN: protects forms and your account from forged requests. It expires after 2 hours.

Because these cookies are strictly necessary, they are set without asking for consent. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but signing in, posting and other forms on the website may not work if you do.

Video pages use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), which may set its own cookies once you press play. Those are governed by Google's policies. If we add analytics or advertising cookies to the website in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this section.

SERVICES WE USE

• Firebase (Google) for sign-in and push notifications.
• Google AdMob for advertising.
• Interserver for hosting our servers and database.
• Cloudflare for delivering and protecting our website and API, and for storing images. Cloudflare sees visitors' IP addresses in order to do this.
• API-Football for match, squad and standings data. No personal data is sent to this provider.
• YouTube for playing videos and livestreams inside the app.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

SHARING

We share information only with the service providers above, when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. Your community posts are visible to other users of the app.

DATA RETENTION

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account in the app, we immediately remove your account, posts and comments. If you ask us by email, we do so within 30 days. We may keep limited information where we must for legal or security reasons.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To use any of these rights, email us at [email protected] from the address on your account and we will respond within 30 days.

To delete your account, open the Profile tab in the app and tap "Delete account". This permanently removes your account, posts and comments. If you cannot use the app, email us with the subject "Delete my account". You can also stop sharing information at any time by signing out or uninstalling the app.

CHILDREN

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

SECURITY

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
